How this prototype works (and what it cannot know)

It extracts broad, explainable properties—frequency center, low/high-frequency energy, tonality, and sharp transients—from a short recording. A transparent rules engine combines those signals with your answers and ranks ten symptom families. No model was trained on customer recordings, and no audio leaves the browser.

It returns no supported match when the recording resembles steady broadband noise or lacks enough acoustic and context support. These conservative checks are unvalidated and cannot detect every unfamiliar sound. Signal quality measures the recording, not diagnostic reliability; even a strong match requires physical verification.

Prototype limitation: phone placement, road noise, cases, and cabin acoustics can dominate a recording. A match is a lead for inspection, not proof. High-voltage, restraint, brake, steering, smoke, or impact concerns should be handled by a qualified technician.
